Paul is accepting new students for openings in his schedule.
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.–William Ward
Here are the policies for the studio of Paul Ferris:
A contract incorporating the policies stated on this page will be signed by all students, or parents of students if a minor.
Monthly rate for weekly half hour lessons: $85.00 ($20.00/half hour + $5.00 admin. fee)
Monthly rate for weekly 45 minute lessons: $125.00 ($30.00/45 min.s + $5.00 admin. fee)
Monthly rate for weekly 1 hour lessons: $165.00 ($40.00/hour + $5.00 admin. fee)
Rate is monthly and therefore does not change even if a month has five lessons instead of four.
Payment to the teacher is to be made on the 1st of every month prior to that month's lessons. Preferred method of payment is automatic payment by credit card, or automatic payment withdrawal from a bank account. Student is paying for the teacher's time to be present at the agreed to time slot scheduled for that week. Therefore if the student misses a lesson, payment is still due. Make-up policy is that the teacher will attempt to give a longer lesson the next time, but this is not a requirement of the payment agreement. Make-up through rescheduling of a lesson is also possible, but this is also not a requirement of the payment agreement.
The student will purchase music as needed, generally consisting of a basic course, a technique course, and a theory course, as well as other music on a case by case basis. The student agrees to follow the practice policy of the teacher, which is to practice at a minimum the lesson assignments on a daily basis. The teacher will provide an assignment sheet at every lesson. The student will track their daily practice sessions on the assignment sheet provided. The student is free to add additional practice or play time at their convenience.
A recital opportunity will be provided by the teacher for the student on at least a yearly basis. Other recital and/or performance opportunities will be provided as they present themselves during the year. The student is encouraged to also pursue performance opportunities at their own initiative. All lessons are given at the teacher's home studio.
